Steve Jobs worked on next iPhone design: iPhone5.com seized

It’s believed that Steve Jobs was widely involved with Apple product development that stretched years into the future, and a new report from Bloomberg seems to confirm that in part. The publication reports that Jobs was closely involved with the development of the next iPhone. Most notably, he was overseeing the redesign of the phone right up until his death late last year. The report also corroborates The Wall Street Journal and Reuters information that the next iPhone will have a larger screen.

Samsung launches new DRAM early amid stock drop

Samsung’s shares took a massive hit when a Digitimes rumor claimed that Apple would be moving 50% of memory capacity to Elpida for DRAM memory chips. Samsung was reportedly set to announce its new 20nm DRAM chips on Monday, but has moved up the announcement to today in order to quell fears with investors and shareholders. Samsung denies the Digitimes rumor, saying that its chips will still be used in Apple products going forward.

Apple slips devs beta build of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

Yesterday Apple was offering some developers a beta build of the next version of OS X called 10.8 Mountain Lion. The new version is Developer Preview 3 and is a pre-release build of the coming operating system. The latest build is identified as 12A206J according to people familiar with the software. The update apparently doesn’t work with MacBook Pro machines from mid-2007.

Apple Files Motion to Dismiss Siri Class Action Lawsuit


According to the lawsuit one of the plaintiffs complained they were unable to replicate the above commercial.

Apple found itself on the wrong side of a series of suits in March alleging the company misrepresented Siri in its advertisements. Apple vehemently denies the allegations.

The complaints culminated in a class action lawsuit requesting that Apple give iPhone owners 30 days to return their phones if they’re unhappy with Siri. Below is the motion to dismiss request Apple filed found by the Wall Street Journal.

WSJ: Next iPhone to feature larger screen

Rumors have been swirling that Apple is planning on moving to a larger screen for the next iPhone, and the Wall Street Journal backs that up today. Production for the next iPhone is due to start next month, and is said to measure “at least 4 inches diagonally compared with 3.5 inches on the iPhone 4S” according to people familiar with the matter. Panel suppliers for the new phone will include Sharp, LG, and Japan Display.

The malicious software known as Flashback has been a burden on the Apple world for some weeks now, Apple this week sending out an official Flashback removal tool to those users working with the Apple OS X Leopard operating system. This fix comes in the form of a security update not unlike what we’ve seen for OS X Lion in weeks past as well, this version coming in under the name Leopard Security Update 2012-003. This package comes aside another download by the name of FlashBack Removal Security Update, both of these downloads available via your own software update page which can be accessed by hitting the Apple in the upper right-hand side of your screen and scrolling down to “Software Update.”

iPhone 5 groundwork being set at WWDC

This June we’ll be seeing some fabulous Apple upgrades at WWDC, but the iPhone 5 itself will not be making an appearance – at least not in its full final form. Instead from what we’ve gathered over the last few weeks in leaks and tips popping up until and including today, we’ll see much of the groundwork and preparations being made for the release of that titanic smartphone release set for a late summer release, a release which, including an iCloud upgrade, improved Apple-run Maps, and hardware updates galore, will be strewn with next-level zazz. What WWDC will hold is the cradle which will eventually surround the iPhone 5.

Apple may be gearing up to refresh its entire Mac lineup with Retina displays. The imminent MacBook Pro refresh has long been rumored to feature the new pixel-dense screen and now the next-gen iMac looks to be getting the same treatment. The new iMacs are also rumored to feature the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processors and a noticeably slimmer design.

Late last week it was discovered that if you asked Siri what it’s favorite smartphone was, the Nokia Lumia 900 would pop up. it was mildly amusing, and a good time was had by all. Now it looks like Apple has patched the possible answers. Asking Siri what the best smartphone is results in such answers as “You’re holding it” and “Wait… there are other phones?”
