Facebook stock down almost 11 percent in second day

Facebook is worth a bit less today than it was on Friday, the first day of its IPO launch. While the stock managed to stay slightly above its start price of $38 a share at the end of the day on Friday, CNBC.com reports that the company's second day of trading on Monday saw the price go down to $34.03 a share, nearly 11 percent lower than its price on Friday. It's also down 25 percent compared to the stock's highest price of $45 a share, achieved early in trading on Friday.

Samsung’s Galaxy S III has shown up for sale in the US with an estimated release date of early June, though it won’t be bringing a slice of LTE pleasure to the lives of early-adopters. The new smartphone is already being listed – in international, HSPA+ form – online in both blue and white, expected to ship on June 1 2012. However, most in the US would probably be better off waiting for the official US variants.

Apple continues to add more and more iOS-like features to Mountain Lion. The latest addition to the developer preview brings the Automatic Download function for apps purchased from the OS X App Store. Just like iOS, once you enable this feature any Mac that is logged on the same account will automatically download purchased apps. The feature doesn’t seem to be fully baked in just yet, however.

The Associated Press reports that, according to the government, Twitter refused to remove messages posted by others about a contest that actually started on Facebook. The contest apparently centered on posting images of Muhammad. The religion of Islam considers any depiction of Muhammad as blasphemous.

WikiLeaks was down for the count longer than The Pirate Bay.

On Wednesday The Pirate Bay mentioned on its Facebook page that Wikileaks was also under a DDoS attack. WikiLeaks confirmed the report via Twitter, stating that the whistle blowing site had been under sustained DDoS attacks over the last 72 hours. The site's «www» address wasn't affected, but the main wikileaks.org URL appeared to be the target. Currently both are now up and running.
